Up and Coming in 2012
Rachel Chan (from RCA) - has some innovative and unique pieces with soft silhouette skimming the body with strong geometric shapes softened by the colour palette of grey tones, black/white and pastel colours. Look forward to seeing what comes next.
Jackie Lee (JS Lee) - Is a London based designer, who recently graduated from the masters program at Central St Martins. just like the designer herself the collection and overall feel of the label is quite and minimalist. Jackie's label has even been described as 'cleanism' as it goes further than minimalism. The label offers a clean and fuss free approach to design and it is a welcome parallel to the sensory overload approach to design that is currently trending.
Houghton (Katherine Polk) - Although Houghton has only just debut her RTW fall/winter 2012 at new York fashion week in February, it seems that success is imminent for this designer, as she has already excelled in almost every other avenue in the fashion industry as the fashion editor of Fiasco magazine, head of a successful styling company 'Katherine Polk Stylist' and previously designed top selling collections for Badgley Mischka Couture. The best is yet to come from this chic designer, I can't wait to see what she does next!
Peiran Gong (RCA 2012) - A colour filled collection mixed with prints with soft architectural shapes it made for a stunning show. I really enjoy his unique vision for colour, pattern and shaping for women's fashion. In particular the voluminous tops with the over-sized sleeve which is a different shape without completely hiding a women's figure it extenuates her small waist and long legs.
